Skills Summary

Although new to this industry I have spent countless hours google-fu-ing may way around the interwebs, tutorials, online courses and a lot of trial and error to build up my comfort level with front end development. I am very, very comfortable with html and css and I am quite comfortable in javascript as well. There are many aspects of js that I haven't touched on yet but what I have utilized I feel good about. I have also spent a lot of time learning and using the bootstrap framework and have become quite comfortable with that as well. I have spent less time in python but I have been able to make a website that is completely generated using data stored in multiple python files. Before I pursued programming I have spent many years in the architecture industry so I have been working out my problem solving skills for a very long time. I had made some marketing material for clients as well as a few very simple css templates and flash websites many, many years ago so I got involved with the Adobe suite of products including, photoshop, illustrator and inDesign.

A little about me

You are probably wondering, why in the world does this yahoo have a picture of what kind of looks like a wedding placed fairly prominately on his website? Well... Since you asked... This is in fact my wedding. I am that smiling guy on the right and my lovely, amazing wife is that cute little doll in the white dress. This picture is an excellent representation of who I am as a person and what I bring to your team. At first glance it may seem odd... A beach, dead trees, living room furniture, chandelier hanging from a tree, that really bright chair in the foreground, random objects strewn about. Even though it's a bit strange, it somehow seems coherent, well designed / planned and everything just seems to come together to create a beautiful scene. BTW, that mantle leaned up against a tree... I ripped off the wall at my house and brought it with me to the wedding as I thought it would look cool and really "tie the room together". The officiant, the photographer, the people passing by... Everybody was blown away by how cool the ceremony was. Thinking outside the box is what my wife and I did here and that midset will be brought to your team. I love to laugh and have a good time but my wife and I had to work really hard to pull off this wedding in about 6 weeks (we even reupholstered a couple of chairs). The moral of the story?... Smile, have a blast, don't worry about the haters, put your head down... work like crazy... create something amazing. That is what I intend to do every single day on your team and I look forward to that opportunity.

Where I've Lived and Worked

In Closing...

I am so thankful that you have taken a few precious moments out of your busy day to browse through the site. I tried to show off some new found skills (the main achievement being this very website) as well as letting folks know about some other skills... delicious chicken wings anyone? Hopefully you have enjoyed your time here and maybe even cracked a smile or two. I have tried to be as transparent as possible so that you can see what it would be like with me as your newest team member. Hopefully, your interest has been piqued, your company works really hard, creates amazing websites and apps but you still find time to let loose once in a while. Although new to the industry, I have learned a ton in a short amount of time. I have become very comfortable with html, css, bootstrap and have been able to do some fairly basic but pretty cool things with javascript as well. Sidenote... When I was able to make the skills percentage circles above work even when the value was over 100%, I was ecstatic! They still need some additional intelligence to prevent the user from going too high with the percentage leaving the viewer with an unreadable graphic but for now, I am very pleased with how it works. As I put my growth mindset to work, spend more time googling and figuring out how to overcome problems, my interest in doing this for a living has increased exponentially. Thanks so much and have a great day!
